E-Mail-Problem mit T-Online gelöst

@Malte Kaldewey @Friendica Support @Let's Talk

@Frank:

A domain name that is not in FQDN form is no more than a local alias. Local aliases MUST NOT appear in any SMTP transaction.

@Friendica Support @Let's Talk

Hallo Leute,

3. Ordnungsgemäßer Versand wird in Logfile notiert
4. Fetchmail holt Mails beim Provider ab und stellt l... show more

Ups, Logfiles sollte man lesen können. Sorry :)

Looking for a group where i can ask about solar raspberry

Hi everyone,
I'm new in friendica and i haven't been able to find a forum where i can talk about running my own server on a solar powered computer.
I've seen a group called "let's talk" so i have thought "let's ask".

Thanks.
Hmm, there's @Sustainable Living for the solar bit, @Lazy Admin for the server bit.

Or you can create your own if you think it needs one.
thank you for four answer, i will take a look at those.

As Simon's server seems to have completely vanished now, so has the Friendica Developers forum. Did anyone create a new one I have missed?

If not I'd do so on my server.
Ah, thanks. I tried to look for it, but it isn't listed in the gobal directory, :-/

Join the Expedition!

It happened again. Greeks lead the way for all of us, freedom lovers. Here, in Poland, we have been always taught, that the Greeks were forefathers of the whole European civilisation. And it's not only democracy. Philosophy, geometrics, mythology, skills and crafts, warrior virtues – Greek Golden Age was (and still is) the benchmark of them all.
Now, there is another skill to learn from the Greeks: the fight and struggle for freedom. As our ancestors were saying, for our freedom and yours. And it's not just about struggling. And even not about succeeding. It's also about keeping and caring for the
freedom. This is the story we want to bring back for our brothers and sisters. The plan is to spend couple (2-4) weeks in Greece, visit various places and communities that exercise their freedom, beyond governmental or corporate control.
We shall form couple small teams up to 4 people and gather materials for a series of AV and written publications. Publications will come in three flavours:

For mainstream media, we shall go beyond the stereotypes of stree... show more

Chaos Communication Congress News: put it in here please!

So for those who aren't familiar with the short terms:
#CCC stands for Chaos Computer Club / Chaos Communication Congress / Chaos Communication Camp.
#29c3 stands for the 29th Chaos Communication Congress which is taking place right now.
The main idea for setting this up right now was me thinking a 29c3-news-collector in friendica-world would be cool..
might be a little late, as there was a friendica-workshop yesterday afternoon and the congress will end tomorrow.

The Friendica workshop (Day 2 @3-4 pm on the calendardidn't happen in the main halls, so it probably wasn't captured on video.
~FRIENDICA: the internet is our social network

bAvatar and heluecht, two of the ~friendica ~friendica developers will give a short introduction presentation of the decentral social-network ~friendica ~friendica, which federates with OStatus (e.g. StatusNet/identi.ca) and Diaspora*. ~friendica ~friendica needs only a simple LAMP environment making it ideal for projects like the FreedomBox or self-hosting it on devices like the RaspberryPi.

The presentation shall be followed by a discussion about ~friendica ~friendica in particular and the federated social web in general.

Depending of the audience this workshop will be done in English or German.
Well, at least I didn't see anyone film it. Then again, it took place in a somewhat "hidden" room with some 30 people and not in one of the big halls; also, there was almost no official announcement, and we had to rely upon pieces of paper taped to walls with a QR code being the sole eye-catcher. Also, while I did pay attention, I multi-tasked, checked my own ~friendica ~friendica during the workshop and sent a request to @Michael Vogel because I announced it before the workshop (and because I could).

The audience itself was quite mixed, by the way. There were a few who might have discovered the little printed announcements or stumbled upon the one on the Wiki and wondered what that ~friendica ~friendica thing might be. About a fourth didn't know about distributed social networking (that is, social networking beyond MySpace, Facebook, Google+ etc.) at all. On the other hand, about another third raised their hands when the question came up who ran their own node. So many just wanted to see the presentation and learned about the ~friendica ~friendica workshop on ~friendica ~friendica.
Ok dear fellows,

i've set up this forum for #CCC -talk in general but for collecting those #29c3 -news in particular. So go along and drink one more tschunk..
@Let's Talk
.. didn't realise what it was a first ... did a search ... .. its on now!?

have been thinking about possible travel next year and would love to go to something like that!

saw the site for an earlier one and it looked like they had lots of interesting stuff - especially the hardware re-use stuff!
yeah, i should have clarified that.
Hey there, is there any attempt to create (or demand in having) a 'ccc'/'29c3'-forum by anyone? I'd like to have more options then twitter..

That was a "bigger picture" post. We do have a perceived shortage of servers and get a lot of "I want a forum and don't know where to put it". In those cases, a forum on a public server is better than no forum at all.

But you're right - self hosting is always the best option. No argument about that.

Bug oder Feature

Hallo Leute,

Der Versand von Nachrichten an andere... show more

Hallo Andreas,

A forum for discussion of a Friendica Social Currency Project is here:

https://allstreets.org/profile/gratitude

All who want to have a focused discussion on a system that hopefully can accommodate a number of metaphors for replacing debt money with gift economics are especially welcome. :)

Mutual credit and "time bank" concepts are also very on-topic for understanding and bridge building.

My hope is we can implement a basic plug-in for Friendica which will provide a useful foundation for large scale distributed mutually cooperative enterprises to build upon.

Possible risks of public posts on my server?

@Friendica Support @Let's Talk

I just thought about a scenario that makes me worry a little:

What if some user on another Friendica server who is among my contacts posts something illegal publicly, and I never read it because he's still in my "New contacts" group that I look into only every now then when I have time.

The post won't show up on the front page of my server, but it will be accesible via search to anyone from the Internet who visits my server. Which means I more or less host it publicly, and it might even show up in search engines, only one click away without actively entering something into a search box on my server. (Currently, my robots.txt only blocks the Whisk(e)y group from search engines access because I want public Friendica content to be found in search engines.)

That might make me a target for lawyers who send out massive numbers of d... show more

i think the tag should at least be in the index.html. Since then the Google crawler works through the site.
It has been said that the "commercial" definition for the impressum includes sites that are non-commercial and ad-free, but offer a constantly sustained service through the years. Just like your average blog that's been online under the same address since the early 2000's. And yes, nobody cares whether you can afford a lawyer or not. You lose. Period.

What I am dreaming of is a addon for the input box editor connected with dict.leo.org to translate some words.
Auto-translation absolutely must be an opt-in choice, it can't be standard. I want the French in French and normally the Russian and Bulgarian in Russian and Bulgarian. The German I'd like to be in English, but how am I ever going to learn if it's auto-filtered first? I don't want the extra resources strain, and decreased page load speed. I want a service class limitation for this for the same reason.

Then how do you autodetect a language? It's easy to tell, say French from German, but can you tell, say, Macedonian from Bulgarian? Google can't, most professional software can't. How do you consistently transliterate from non-Roman alphabets to Roman alphabets to make sure the regex is looking for the right words?

This is on the to-do list, for some reason, but I can't help but feel a better solution is to not add foreigners, put them in their own group, or just scroll past posts you can't read if you don't want foreign posts.
